okay, well good news is that my computer is now up and running again. The fan of the processor was wrong, and that fixed the buzzing. And the switching off I'll guess is related to that, because it hasn't (yet) done that to me.  Thanks to everyone who spent the time to help me out. I'll not thank you all individually i don't think, simply because theres I'll just be repeating 'thanks, its all fixed now!' over and over. But, thanks once again

I was referring, of course, to the medical trial I was planning to sign up for. I'd heard about it from Colin Foreman, the man running it, who I'd worked with before on several projects, both as an assistant and as a test subject. This was serious money though, and it had taken a while for me to come round to it, all I had to do now was to convince Megan it wasn't a joke.
"Who'd you hear this from? Please tell me it wasn't an email or something like that because you should know better than that." She pulled her 'tell me you're not that stupid' face.
